Made In Tamworth

A HOME-grown initiative to promote Tamworth and its wealth of musical opportunities.

The Pub Management, has put together a package show of young stars who take the stage under the banner, Made in Tamworth.

Artists appearing on the show are The Baileys, Aaron Bolton, Ben Hazell, Katrina Burgoyne and Aleyce Simmonds.

"It's a two-hour, scripted show that's designed to tell the audience about Tamworth and what it's meant to these young kids.

One young star, Ben Hazell, was born in Young and came to Tamworth at age two. Ben's musical journey began when he was 10 and now, aged 17, he's spent two years studying his craft with expert tutors from the prestigious NSW Talent Development Project.

Likewise, Katrina Burgoyne from Gunnedah, wasn't born in Tamworth, but it was certainly in this city that the talented teenager's interest in music was encouraged and developed.
Like Ben, Katrina is another TDP graduate, and this is the place where the youngster's dreams to become a singer-songwriter have been nurtured.

Aleyce Simmonds, who won the 2005 Telstra Road to Tamworth national talent search, and is recording her first single in Nashville mid year, is certainly another "Tamworth made" product.

Grafton's Aaron Bolton came to Tamworth initially to compete in talent quests, and later took advantage of Tamworth Camerata, the junior country music school held in July each year. Aaron now lives and works out of Tamworth, taking his brand of country to festivals and events right around Australia.

poster3The Baileys are most certainly a home-grown success story, with lead vocalist Charlene first taking stages around Tamworth as a 12-year-old.
Her father, Ezzie, would take Charlene to concerts at local venues, and more often than not, she would have the opportunity to sing with a live band. It wasn't all that long afterwards that Charlene's sister Crystal started singing harmonies and her brother Kurt picked up a set of drumsticks.
Under the tutelage of inspiring drummers such as Doug Gallacher from the Feral Swing Katz, Kurt soon gained confidence and ability, and has found his voice, singing with the family band.

Lindsay Dallas, a third generation musician and grandson of legendary singing yodeller, Rex Dallas, joined The Baileys as bass player, after growing up with musical influences all around him.

Sixteen-year-old Daniel Conway had been coming down from Queensland to the Tamworth Festival for years, with his dad, Paddy. Four years ago after Daniel graduated from Tamworth Camerata, they made the move from Queensland to Tamworth so Daniel could further his musical pursuits.
